Employers increasingly require global awareness and cross cultural
communications skills by their employees. This emphasizes the importance of
internationalizing curriculum and the classroom. Not all students have the
opportunity to study or work abroad. Faculty who integrate international
students into classroom groups, discussions and projects create the opportunity
for all students to benefit from the blend of cultures and experiences in the

As international student enrollment continues to grow at
Capilano University, the CIE has committed a small budget to supporting faculty
in their efforts to support international students and internationalize their
curriculum and classroom.
Faculty lead field schools are an excellent opportunity to internationalize curriculum and provide students with a short international experience while they earn credits towards their credential.
Faculty interested in proposing a field school should present their concept for department support. Full proposals including budgets are to be submitted to the CIE who will prepare all proposals for review by the Academic Leadership Committee. Field School process and templates can be found below.
