Capilano University strives to offer opportunities that enable students to contribute to the world as responsible citizens in a rapidly changing and diverse global community. Community/global consciousness and responsibility are core institutional goals at Capilano University. Service Learning programs are opportunities for Capilano University students and employees to combine community service with classroom instruction and reflection to enhance civic responsibility and strengthen communities.

In the Spring of 2016, six CapU students, one staff member and one faculty member participated in a Capilano University Service Learning trip to Kenya with the Me to We organization and the Free the Children charity. This trip saw the group travel to rural Kenya to participate in volunteer work, community engagement, formal lessons, activities and reflection.
