“To call Schneider the most important woman in jazz is missing the point … She is a major composer – period.” – TIME
Schneider, a multiple Grammy®-award winning composer and big band conductor has been compared to Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, as well as Gil Evans – with whom she worked in her early career. Hers has been heralded as the “first truly novel approach to big band composition of the new century” [LA Times] for crafting and leading genre-blending compositions for the 17-member collective of many of today’s finest jazz musicians. Schneider brings her invention to collaborate with Capilano University's “A” Band (under the direction of Brad Turner) and NiteCap (led by Réjean Marois) for an evening of breathtaking artistry.
Music Direction: Brad Turner ("A" Band) & Réjean Marois (NiteCap)
