Accounting Assistant Certificate

  • The Accounting Assistant Certificate program is a full-time, eight month program offered from September to April. This program provides students with training in accounting, computer applications, and administrative procedures. A two-week practicum is included in this training program.

You gain an excellent understanding of both manual and computer accounting systems and the ability to apply this knowledge to business situations.  You are also introduced to other computer applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, in addition to general office procedures, business writing, and organizational behaviour.  At the end of the Accounting Assistant Certificate program, you will gain practical experience and the opportunity to network when you participate in a two-week work practicum with a local company

Graduates find employment as accounting assistants, accounts receivable or payable clerks, accountants for small and medium-sized firms, or they perform accounting functions in their own businesses. In addition, graduates of this program who want to take more advanced courses leading towards a diploma, degree or a professional accounting designation are encouraged to contact our School of Business as they will receive credit for some courses.

Here's what our Accounting Assistant graduates say about the program.

Students who achieve a minimum grade of B in the following courses will receive credit from the School of Business:
