Students wishing to take courses required to complete the Infant and Toddler certificate must apply to the ECCE Degree or Diploma program and can exit with such program requirements. In addition, students must have completed their Basic Certificate requirements before proceeding with both the IT and/or SN specializations.
The Infant Toddler (IT) certificate is offered to students as 300 level course work within the ECCE Diploma or Degree program. As a full-time student, this certificate may be completed in two academic terms. Course work is focused on the care and education of children from birth to three years of age. All students are required to complete a five-week practicum in a licensed infant-toddler program. The IT Certificate courses meet the requirements of the Early Childhood Educator Registry, Ministry for Children and Family Development for the ECE License to Practice. For more information on application for a license to practice, please contact the Early Childhood Educators Registry at http://www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/childcare/ece/
