Orientation FAQs

      • Q. What day is Orientation?
        A. Tuesday, September 5, 2017.

        Q. What time do I need to be there?
        A. Please be there by 9:30 a.m. at the latest.

        Q. How long will I spend at Orientation?
        A. You can expect the fun to continue after the official orientation activities by participating in the app-based campus-wide scavenger hunt, Goosechase, and by attending CUSP, the Cap U Street Party.

        Q. Will my program have a separate Orientation?
        A. Each school will have school specific welcome talks after the general welcome talk. New students will be led to their talks from the general welcome talk. Your individual programs may or may not have separate orientations outside of the Sept. 5th events.

        Q. What's the Capilano U Street Party?
        A. A campus-wide celebration for ALL students, new and returning. There will be music, food trucks, an app-based scavenger hunt, booths from local businesses, and more! Click here for more details.

        Q. Will my program have a separate Orientation?
        A. Possibly.  If this is the case, your program will send you the specific details.

        Q. Is there anything happening at Cap on Monday, September 5, 2016?
        A. No. It’s Labour Day, a public holiday.

        Q. I am a new International Student. Where do I go?
        The New International Student Orientation takes place on August 31, a week before New Student Orientation. On September 5, CIE mentors will be on site to assist new international students with check in for Orientation. Please visit the CIE booth or ask a mentor with a red t-shirt for assistance.

        Q. Are there classes on Orientation Day?
        A. NO. The majority of classes are CANCELLED. Only classes scheduled after 5:30pm (Long after the Orientation events have wrapped) will be held. Unless you hear otherwise from your professor, it’s safe to assume Orientation day has no class.
