Applications are open for Fall 2017 intake,
This two-year graduate diploma program provides international students with foundational management knowledge and the skills and decision-making tools needed to do business in an often diverse and turbulent North American and International economic environment.
The first year of this program focuses on Canadian-specific business issues and trends. A broad set of topic areas within the business field are explored. During this year, students are able to specialize in one of three areas of concentration offering a deeper understanding of a particular subject.
During the second year of the program, students specialize in international business strategy, and develop an awareness of differences in the cultural, socio-economic and political context of business operations. Students develop and apply the ability to critically analyze complex international business problems and generate and evaluate options leading to effective solutions.
The program will be of interest to students who wish to pursue a career in North American and international companies. The program provides individuals with an opportunity to gain valuable high level North American specific and international business skills that are beneficial to a business career in any industry or sector.
Unlike many graduate or masters level programs, this program is open to students who have little or no work experience. This program may be of interest to students who have a non-business degree, who wish to enrich their education in order to enhance their employment opportunities.
Students have the option to take courses in one of three areas of specialization:
Marketing This concentration, in the first year, is designed to provide students with a strong background in marketing in order to prepare them for a wide variety of marketing careers. The concentration is most appropriate for those students seeking a career in brand management, small business marketing and business-to-business marketing in North America and abroad.
Human Resource Management During the first year, this concentration is designed to provide students with strong background in human resource management (HRM) and to prepare them for the wide variety of HR careers available. This concentration provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to help organizations ensure they have the necessary talent required to operate effectively.
International Strategy and EntrepreneurshipThis first year concentration is designed to give students insight into the subject of entrepreneurship and to help them gain an understanding of the challenges of owning and operating a business across borders in a global marketplace.
