    • Capilano University's Food Services has switched the majority of food containers to an equivalently sized biodegradable product. 

      Napkins

      Tork Xpressnap Dispenser. One-at-a-time napkin dispensing improves personal hygiene and decreases consumption. Napkins are made from 100% recycled fiber. Dispose of soiled napkins into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      Take-out Containers

      EarthChoice molded fiber containers are made from sustainable, renewable resources and perfect for composting.

      Bio Plus Earth take-out containers can hold any type of food hot, cold, wet, dry. 100% recycled made with at least 35% post-consumer recycled paper content.

      NatureWorks PLA containers with lid for yogurt, veggie and fruit cups. Made from corn, an annually renewable resource, NatureWorks PLA is a plastic-like resin that is fully biodegradable and completely composts under commercial composting conditions.

      Dispose of soiled containers and lids into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      Plates

      Earth Plus plates are manufactured from renewable resources resulting in a product that is better for the environment from start to finish.

      Dispose of soiled plates into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      Pizza Trays

      Made of 100 % recycled paperboard.

      Dispose of soiled tays into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      Coffee & Hot Food Cups

      Solo Bare coffee cups & food containers are made from 100% plant based renewable resources. This compostable, paper lined food container has a PLA plastic outer shell that provides added strength and durability. 

      Dispose of soiled coffee & hot food cups  into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      NOTE: Soiled lids must not be put into the organics collection bins.

      Cutlery

      Trellis Earth cutlery made of  bioplastics which is  biodegradable and, in some cases, compostable plastics derived from renewable raw materials such as starch from corn, potato, tapioca, or other plants and vegetables, combined with biodegradable and conventional polymers, to create products that reduce the impact on the environment in absolute carbon footprint terms.

      Dispose of soiled cutlery into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      Hy-Stix Stir Sticks

      Compostable wooden stir sticks.

      Dispose of soiled stir sticks into the organics collection bins located in the Birch Food Court.

      NOTE: All pre-consumer waste in Food Services is composted.
