Convocation is the ceremony where you, your family and your friends celebrate the successful completion of your academic credential.

Convocation Ceremonies - 5 June - 7 June
Get ready to cross the stage from June 5 to June 7, 2024. Registration for your ceremony will be open until noon on May 16, 2024.
Please note that you will be pre-assigned to a ceremony based on your program of completion and cannot switch to a different ceremony time or date.
To officially graduate from Capilano University, you must submit an Application for Graduation.
If you are attending your ceremony, registration is required. You will receive an invitation to your myCapU email address to register for the ceremony. If you need assistance registering for your ceremony, please contact convocation@capilanou.ca.
Grad who do not register before the deadline may register on site, one hour prior to their ceremony by paying a $17 late fee. This is in addition to the standard regalia cost of $48.
If you are no longer able to attend the ceremony, the deadline to request a refund for your regalia is Thursday, May 16. Please contact convocation@capilanou.ca.

Parking is free on campus throughout the ceremonies, however there are some road closures in effect. Please follow signs and traffic staff upon arrival.

Attendance and Guests
There are no tickets required for your guests. We can guarantee seats for four guests per grad; however, we cannot guarantee seats for additional guests.
Your ceremony will last approximately 1.5 hours.
People with limited mobility can be dropped off behind the Centre for Sport and Wellness. Enter the back door from the parking lot or access via the ramp on the side of the building. There will be some accessible parking nearest the Birch Building available on first come first serve basis.
After the ceremony please join your fellow graduates at the Alumni All Access Reception in parking lot 7. Snacks and refreshments will be provided and you can enjoy party tunes from DJ Gabriel while taking a spin on the 360 photobooth with your friends and family!
If you cannot attend your ceremony, your credentials will be mailed to you the week after the ceremonies. You do not need to let us know that you will not be attending.
You will not be able to take part in the ceremonies without first registering for Convocation and ordering regalia through Gaspard. No one may cross the stage without regalia!
When you arrive to the Birch Building:
On the day of your ceremony, pick up your credentials, gown, and cap in the cafeteria - Birch Building. You will need your Cap Card as ID to collect your credentials. If you already have your credential, you DO NOT need to bring it to the ceremony. Gradapps will provide you with a personalized envelope to hold when you cross the stage.
Please bring your Gaspard confirmation from your gown order to pick up your gown.
Please arrive 60 mins before your ceremony.
Gowns and hoods / stoles should be returned to the drop off location in the cafeteria no more than 1 hour after your ceremony. Cap and tassels are yours to keep.
If you did not order you regalia during the registration period, you can rent regalia on site for $65 CAD.
Photographs
Photographers from Grad Images will be at your ceremony to take a photograph of you at your special moment of recognition. They will contact you directly with information about how to order your photographs.
If you do not hear from them within a week, you can contact them through their Customer Service Department at 800-372-3686 or ecc.giservice@gradimages.net.

Convocation Day is a wonderful celebration that all grads look forward to and enjoy. Help us celebrate our graduates and show your community spirit by volunteering to help make Convocation Day unforgettable for our graduating students, their friends and families.
How to sign up to volunteer
If you have volunteered with us before, please log in to your account. If you have not volunteered with us before, please sign up at our Volunteer Portal.
You will be asked to create a profile, and then you can select which roles appeal to you. Please ensure you sign the volunteer waiver, you will not be able to sign up until you do so.

Guests attending from outside Canada?
If you have guests attending your ceremony from outside Canada and need assistance providing documentation for a visa, please contact inted@capilanou.ca. They will be able to provide you with a template and instructions.
