Thursday night Cap Cinephiles presents Grave of the Fireflies.
Animation Month concludes with the moving feature Grave of the Fireflies (Japan, 1988). This tragic, wartime story of a brother and sister is written and directed by Isao Takahata, co-founder of the famous Studio Ghibli (and long-time collaborative partner of Hayao Miyazaki). Set predominantly in Kobe, Japan during the fire bombing of 1945, the film tells the story of fourteen year old Seita, who has to take care of his younger sister when their mother dies.
