"I love animation."
Craig Simmons is a graduate of Thompson Rivers University with diplomas in Digital Art & Design and Fine Arts. In the past twenty years, Simmons has worked as a freelance designer/animator, owned a small design studio and has developed numerous successful animation training programs in British Columbia and New Brunswick. As a professional artist, he has worked on a large variety of projects from multimedia to virtual reality.
Simmons is currently teaching various 3D Modeling, Texturing, Design and Digital Painting courses in 3D Animation, Digital Visual Effects and 2D Animation.
My teaching interests focus on drawing, design and classical animation techniques. My hope is that students learn all about animation and animation design for a career in the animation industry.
My research and interests are the animation industry and animation studios that support the program with scholarships, summer internships and classroom visits.
Capilano University's 2D Animation program was part of the team that created Disney's Frozen, winner of 2014's Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
