Leadership skills can be developed in many ways: through experiential learning opportunities, volunteering, becoming a member of a campus club and by taking advantage of many other leadership opportunities.
To help grow your leadership skills, Student Affairs offers a leadership program for Capilano University students called CapULeads.
The purpose of CapULeads is to grow young leaders on campus.
The CapULeads program is based upon The Student Leadership Challenge 5 Practices to Become an Exemplary Leader, by James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner.
The program consists of six workshops, five of which will be highlighting the five practices, and the sixth is led by the participants in the workshop.
Each session starts with a short review/discussion of one of the five leadership practices, followed by an activity that will re-enforce the practice and lastly time will be provided for students to develop their own student facilitated workshop which will be held on the sixth workshop day.
