Each term, the Writing Centre offers writing workshops that are free and open to all CapU students.

They are a great opportunity to learn specific skills related to writing, which can be applied to your university studies and your professional life. Please join in and improve your writing skills and your grades!

While we’re unable to hold our workshops in person this term due to COVID-19 safety measures, our meetings will still emulate the interactive and supportive nature of our in-person writing workshops.

Our Writing Centre workshops are held via CapU’s secure Zoom platform. What does this mean for entering our workshop meetings?

You will not enter the meeting through your email or your private Zoom account, but here is what you will do:

  • Please note the meeting ID, password, and link list under each workshop description
  • If you already have a private Zoom account, make sure that you are signed out of it
  • Go to https://capu.zoom.us/
  • Select the sign in (configure account) option. From here, there are two ways you may get into the meeting:
    1. If you are automatically signed in, click on the top bar that says "Join a Meeting"
      • Input the meeting ID
      • If it asks for it, input the password – and you will enter the meeting!
    2. If you are asked to switch from your previous Zoom account to a CapU one, enter your CapU email
      • Go into your CapU email and click on the confirmation link sent to your email
      • Once you have done so, you can select "Join a Meeting" and join in the same way as above

If you experience any challenges getting into a Writing Centre workshop, please contact the Student Digital Ambassadors at sda@capilanou.ca and they will assist you.
