Capilano University announces a new $30,000 grant from Atomic Cartoons to support student access to the University’s 2D/3D animation programs. The new Atomic Cartoons Entrance Scholarship is open to Canadian high school students entering CapU’s 2D Animation & Visual Development and 3D Animation for Film & Game programs. It is a $5,000 scholarship that will be awarded to two students yearly.

CapU students score high in 24-hour animation film contest

12 teams of CapU’s animation programs competed in the international 24 HOURS Animation Contest for Students. Two teams finished in the top ten, and five teams finished in the top 25 out of 300 entries. CapU entry “Crow Bros” made entirely of first-year students came in sixth place, and entry “Facebook Peanut Butter Counter-Strike: Source” came in at second place and earned a prize valued at over US$15,000.

Most people think of eggs as a breakfast food, but to Viktoriya Kim an egg is a blank canvas begging to be adorned. Her passion is to transform ostrich, goose and duck eggs into everything from gilded carriages to ornate teapots using paper prints, acrylic paints, Swarovski stones, beads and different kinds of mediums and bonds.

Leaders from Capilano University (CapU) and Líl̓wat Nation will today sign an affiliation agreement that recognizes shared values and commitments as they continue to work together to deliver post-secondary learning opportunities. The signing takes place at the newly re-opened Ts̓zil Learning Centre (TLC) in Mount Currie, B.C. that serves the Líl̓wat Nation and other Indigenous peoples.

CapU men's volleyball claims first medal since 2013

The Capilano University Blues men's volleyball team won their first medal in six seasons on Saturday afternoon, defeating the top-seeded Douglas College Royals 3-0 to claim the bronze medal at the PACWEST Championships in Cranbrook. The win avenges last season's defeat to Douglas in the consolation final, and makes it matching bronze medals for both the men's and women's teams at the tournament.
