This course focuses on each student's ability to make safe leadership decisions, perform surf landings and launches, and provide a high level of client care and instruction. Students may achieve industry certification(s) in sea kayaking (Paddle Canada Skills Level 2 and/or Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC Assistant Overnight Guide certifications), if industry certification requirements are met.
Prerequisites: WLP 137
Notes:
- To achieve Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC) certification in Overnight Field Leader, students must have earned Field Leader Paddling in WLP 137. To achieve Paddle Canada Level 2 Skills in WLP 138, students must have earned Paddle Canada Level 1 Skills previously. Proof of certification is required.
- This course consists of one pre-trip planning session plus a nine day overnight field trip.
