Program Highlights

The Adult Basic Education (ABE) program offers courses equivalent to grades 10-12 in English, mathematics, biology, chemistry, physics, history, and computers, enabling students to upgrade their knowledge in these subject areas.

ABE courses can be taken full- or part-time. They can help you:

  • complete your high school courses and achieve your BC Adult Dogwood Graduation Diploma
  • improve your grade point average (GPA)
  • improve your marks in Grade 11 or 12 courses needed as prerequisites for post-secondary studies
  • prepare for other university programs

If you are new to ABE at CapU, please visit the Apply and Register for New ABE or CUP Students page for information about our assessment and registration process.

If you are a returning ABE student (have taken ABE classes in the last 2 years) please visit the Current and Returning ABE or CUP Students page for information about our registration process.

Students taking ABE at the Ts̓zil Learning Centre in Mt. Currie should contact TLC@capilanou.ca to inquire about upcoming courses.

For students who live on the Sunshine Coast and are registered in ABE courses, there are optional 1.5 hour, face-to-face, drop-in learning labs offered at the Sunshine Coast campus weekly throughout the semester for each of the subjects you are registered in.

Admission Requirements

A writing and math skills assessment, and an interview with the department is required before students can register in ABE courses.
