Spring 2020 Final Grade Options for Students & Emergency Bursary Fund
Spring 2020 Final Grade Options for Students
Recognizing the ongoing impacts of the global COVID-19 situation upon students at this time, Capilano University is introducing an additional option to its grading system for the Spring 2020 term. This is in addition to the announcement April 1 that the last day to withdraw from a Spring 2020 course is now April 14th, 2020.
All students who complete courses in Spring 2020 now have a choice in the final grade that they receive. Students who pass their course(s) may choose to receive:
- the final grade they earn OR
- a grade of CR (credit)
A grade of CR means the student is receiving credit for the course. A CR grade will also count towards program completion and credit totals, but will not impact a student’s GPA.
It’s important to note, Capilano University does not know how other post-secondary institutions will view CR grades for admission or transfer credit purposes.
Similarly, failing grades will not be counted in a student’s GPA for the Spring term. Instead, a student’s transcript for a failed course will be recorded as NC (no credit). Students will not receive credit for the course, but it will not impact their academic standing at the University.
More information about the process to request a CR grade will be provided by April 21, 2020.
