Capilano University’s new location, CapU Lonsdale, on the second floor of The Shipyards development in North Vancouver will allow students to experience education in an accessible, central and scenic setting.
With this new address, CapU continues a 50-plus-year tradition of delivering personalized learning in small classes taught by accomplished educators.
CapU Lonsdale will become a permanent home for Continuing Studies administration and a number of Continuing Studies classes will be offered on site. The new location is at the centre of the rapidly evolving Shipyards community where the energy and activity make it an ideal location for learning and collaboration.
A community of learning on the waterfront
With six classrooms as well as flexible spaces, the unique interior design of CapU Lonsdale celebrates the natural West Coast environment and local waterways. Along the floor's west side is a 60-foot-long balcony featuring views through to Vancouver.
CapU Lonsdale is situated in a partial reconstruction of the historic Shipyard's "machine shop." The site, previously known as Lot 5, has more than 84,000 square feet of mixed-use commercial and community amenity space and connects with the popular North Shore Spirit Trail. Centrally located near the pier, this site includes restaurants, cafés and retail, along with an outdoor public ice rink and water park. The development offers an estimated 140 paid parking spots, along with bicycle stalls.
