To apply, please prepare the following:
- Completed CapU Student Exchange Application Form.
Please note: We're enhancing our application process to provide a simpler, more accessible experience. The new online application form will be available on October 15 and we look forward to receiving your application on or after this date. Questions? Contact studyabroad@capilanou.ca. - Letter of Intent (450-500 words) which highlights:
- the relationship of international/intercultural education to your career goals;
- why and how this particular student exchange will be of value to you; and
- what you believe you can contribute to CapU as a study abroad ambassador.
- Current resume
- Photocopy of the identification page of your passport. If your passport needs to be renewed, please submit a copy of your current passport and indicate "in process of renewal."
- Your myCapMap PDF showing which courses you have completed so far and which courses you still must complete to graduate from your program, based on your Academic Advising. Talk to your Academic Advisor about your degree requirements in order to understand which courses you still need to complete.
Important: For most full-term exchange programs, you are able to transfer back a maximum of four (4) 300-Level (Upper) Electives (Unassigned) in your specific area of study. Be sure you save these electives for your study abroad experience.
Some exceptions apply in terms of the type and number of courses students from select programs are able to transfer back as CapU credits. These exceptions include but are not limited to exchange programs for MOPA, ECCE and IDEA students as well as Special Programs such as Disney International Program and Aichi Gakusen Exchange.
If you have any questions about courses you will be transferring back by completing a full-term exchange program, please consult studyabroad@capilanou.ca. - A mini-portfolio of work (for applicants in the IDEA program only)
- Two Faculty references. Please advise your Faculty references to email a completed Faculty Reference Form (pdf) directly to studyabroad@capilanou.ca before the application deadline.
