About the program

Welcome to CapU!

Starting university in a new country can feel exciting and a little overwhelming. The International Leadership & Mentorship Program (ILMP) is here to support you every step of the way.

Through ILMP, new international students in their first term will be paired with experienced student mentors, who understand what it is like to be new to Canada and Capilano University. They are here to help you settle in, make connections and feel confident in your new environment.

ILMP connects new international students (mentees) with upper-year students (mentors) who can support you with:

  • Adjusting to life in Canada;
  • Navigating CapU services and systems;
  • Sharing tips for academic success;
  • Meeting new people and building community; and
  • Answering your questions, big or small.

Think of your mentor as a friendly guide and a go-to person during your first term.

  • Your mentor will check in with you regularly, give you advice on classes and campus life, and answer any questions you may have during your first term.
  • You will be invited to all the fun and engaging events during Orientation week and throughout the term.
