Capilano University welcomes new dean of business and professional studies
NORTH VANCOUVER B.C. August 4, 2020 – Capilano University is pleased to announce the appointment of Dennis Silvestrone, PhD, as the University’s new dean of the Faculty of Business & Professional Studies. Reporting to the VP academic & provost, Silvestrone will oversee the faculty’s performance, advocacy and strategic direction. Silvestrone begins his new role at the University today.
“Dennis brings over 20 years of experience as a senior academic leader in the post-secondary sector,” says Laureen Styles, EdD, VP academic & provost, Capilano University. “With strengths in community development and building successful partnerships for creating new credit and credit-free programming, his leadership will be an asset to our University.”
In addition to program development, Silvestrone is skilled in forging community and regionally-based applied research activities; collaborations with First Nations communities; and leadership in academic governance, corporate and continuing studies programming.
Silvestrone comes to CapU from Okanagan College where he served as director of Continuing Studies and Corporate Training. His previous roles include dean, Adult and Continuing Education at Vancouver Island University, and director and senior lecturer, Continuing and Professional Education at the University of Manitoba.

Dennis Silvestrone holds a Master of Public Administration (University of Victoria) and a PhD, Education (Kingston University, UK).
