CapU instructor heads to FIFA World Cup 2022 to set up and support Fox Sports broadcast team
Location Sound instructor Lisa Kolisnyk leaves for Doha, Qatar on November 8
Lisa Kolisnyk, a Location Sound instructor for CapU's School of Motion Picture Arts (MOPA), begins a six-week assignment with Fox Sports for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar next week.
Kolisnyk and her team are building a studio in Doha, Qatar where the Fox Sports broadcast group will host daily studio shows during the FIFA World Cup event that begins on November 20. She will be responsible for looking after the commentator's microphones and earpieces, and ensuring the sound quality during all the broadcasts.
She first worked with the Fox Sports team during the FIFA Women's World Cup 2015 in Vancouver.
“We built the studio set at Jack Poole Plaza. Our team was honoured to be awarded the Sports Emmy for 'Outstanding Technical Team Studio' for our work in 2015,” said Kolisnyk.
In 2019, Kolisnyk re-joined the Fox Sports team to support the broadcast coverage of the FIFA Women's World Cup in Paris, France, for which her team won a second Sports Emmy Award for "Outstanding Technical Team Studio."
“I am looking forward to again joining the terrific Fox Sports team to present the 2022 FIFA World Cup to a large broadcast audience throughout the world,” said Kolisnyk. “Qatar is ready to host the world and I am excited to work at this event.”
At CapU, Kolisnyk works with MOPA, Documentary Film and Indigenous Digital Filmmaking students. This will be her first time in the Middle East and she looks forward to the new experiences before her – and being warm for six weeks!
