CapU's Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Financial Planning - Professional program is for people who work in financial services, have a degree and want to advance their financial advising career with a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) or Qualified Associate Financial Planner™ (QAFP™) designation.
A financial planner’s expertise guides clients through the challenges of investing, financing, retirement, estate and insurance planning to help them secure their financial future.
This five-course program is offered part-time and is designed exclusively for people who have a degree and are licensed in one of the following:
- Life Insurance - Life License Qualification Program (LLQP)
- Mutual Funds and Securities - Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization
- Registered Mortgage Broker - BC Financial Services Authority (BCFSA)

- Apply sound information gathering and quantitative reasoning skills to client recommendations using the Financial Planning Body of Knowledge (FP Canada).

Admission Requirements
English language requirements
English is the language of instruction at CapU. All applicants are required to demonstrate competence in the English language prior to admission.
If English is not your first language or you’ve received your education in a language other than English, students must produce evidence of their English Language Proficiency:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): paper =560 internet=83, or
- English Language Assessment (ELA)=145, or
- International English Language Testing System (Academic IELTS)=6.5 overall, and no one score less than 6.0, or
- Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)=70, or
- Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)=56, or
- CapU EAP 100 and 101 with a minimum B+ grade in each course, or
- from approved pathway partner.
Basic requirements
- Completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized institution.
Program-specific requirements
- Evidence of active license in one of the following: LLQP, MFDA, IIROC, Mortgage Broker

This program is appropriate for students who have an undergraduate degree, are licensed and working within the financial services sector, and wish to complete their Certified Financial Planning Core Curriculum from FP Canada.
