Your university experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Make the most of it by living on campus.
With its new location right in the heart of the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, our new Squamish campus is a central hub for learning and growth for students in Whistler, Squamish and surrounding towns.
Here are the top 5 reasons why living on campus can transform your university life.
Affordable and convenient housing
With a consistently low vacancy rate and high rental prices, finding off-campus housing in Squamish is challenging for students on a budget.
CapU’s on-campus housing provides a safe, secure and engaging alternative. We offer meal plans for students, so you won’t need to worry about buying groceries and preparing food, leaving you more time to invest in your studies, hobbies and social connections.
The proximity of student housing to classrooms adds to the convenience, allowing students to enjoy a few extra minutes of sleep before class. Each room is a single room with a shared bathroom, so you can enjoy both privacy and community living.
A welcoming community atmosphere
Students residing on campus can expect a welcoming and open atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to connect. The diversity within the student housing means that everyone can find peers who share their interests.
Additionally, our buildings are clustered together and contain more than 200 units, creating a sense of community and making it easy to build new connections. John Umunna, the director of student housing at CapU, highlights that students will meet a diverse group of people.
Create connections and friendships
Umunna emphasizes that on-campus housing fosters student engagement and retention, especially in their first year. “Once students create connections and friendships in the first year, it drives their success long-term,” he explains.
The sense of community developed in on-campus housing is invaluable, with students actively participating in events and activities designed to build strong bonds.
A gateway to outdoor adventures and the best view in town
Squamish is surrounded by nature and students have access to world class hiking and mountain biking trails, rock climbing, the Sea to Sky Gondola and local Indigenous ceremonies and festivals. With Whistler just a short drive away, students can easily access the resort for skiing and snowboarding during winter months.
For John, the location of the Squamish campus is one of its most appealing features. “The campus buildings have the best view in the entire town,” he says.
Comprehensive support services
CapU’s on-campus housing provides extensive support services to ensure students feel at home, with trained staff members living on site.
These staff members understand the student journey and offer personalized support, creating a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other by name. With a supportive environment, we ensure that your transition to university life is memorable and smooth.
