60(ish) Seconds: The Voice Inside Us
Published11 February, 2021
We are all born with the ability to sing — all you have to do is tell your story and sing your heart, says George Roberts.
Voice teaching is a unique and inspiring vocation because human beings are designed for singing.
It wasn’t something invented by the Welsh or the Greeks or the Italians. You are born with the ability to sing encoded right into you.
It is my job to help you become aware of something you’re already designed to do and help you to sing in the most effortless way possible.
So, whether you are hoping to be a folk singer, a singer/songwriter, a choir teacher or even a singer on the operatic stage, the vocal ability to do all of those things already lives inside you.
It is my job to help you be mindful of how you’re breathing, your posture, your alignment, and not just how you sound when you’re singing, but how it actually physically feels to make your easiest singing sound.
So, it’s all about freeing your body to do what it’s designed to do. And in the end, all you have to do is tell your story, and sing your heart.
