New FIFA-certified pitch ready for collegiate women’s soccer nationals.
Capilano University’s Squamish campus is ready to welcome the best in collegiate soccer with the 2024 CCAA (Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association) Women’s Soccer National Championship, November 6-9.
The tournament will see the host Capilano Blues welcome seven other teams from across Canada to vie for a national title.
“Capilano University is proud to welcome everyone to Squamish as we highlight the best in CCAA women’s soccer,” said Georgette Reed, CapU’s director of Athletics & Recreation.
“Showcasing a new FIFA-certified athletic turf field and one of the country’s most beautiful soccer settings, CapU has worked hard to organize an event the student-athletes, coaches, staff and spectators will remember for a long time. We look forward to a great week of camaraderie and competition.”
The brand-new turf field replaced an existing surface at the CapU Squamish campus and will give the athletes a world-class venue to showcase their skills. The Blues played the final home game of their regular season on the field and settled for a 0-0 draw with Langara College.
“It was great for our team to get on the field and get a sense of the surroundings as we gear up for nationals,” said Blues captain Mya Fraser.
The Blues go into the national tournament with a silver medal from the PACWEST conference provincial championship.
