- Eating together is also a great way to meet new people.
- In short, being on the mandatory meal plan helps students have an easier transition into university life!
What a "declining balance" is
In CapU housing, we have a “declining balance” meal plan. This means that your student card works just like a debit card, and every time you make a purchase, the amount gets deducted from the meal plan balance.
Cost of the meal plan
The meal plan cost per term is $2,350 in North Vancouver and $2,600-$2,800 in Squamish.
How to make the most of your meal plan
Once the money is loaded onto your student card, you can spend the bulk of it in the dining hall. Items are individually priced or priced as a meal combo.
When you make a purchase from the Housing dining hall, you will be able to pay using your student card. Your flex dining account can be used in the various cafeterias on campus and the Housing dining hall.
Eat-in or take-out
You can choose to eat and socialize in the dining hall or take your meal to go. You can ask your meal to be packed in a to-go container. Note that you will be charged extra 25 cents for the to-go container.
Dietary restrictions
Our housing community is home to a number of students with dietary restrictions and needs. Our dining hall staff work to ensure that all students have access to food that meet these needs.
Vegetarian, vegan and gluten free meals are served during each meal time, with additional meals available for students whose requirements cannot be met by these. When you apply, you will be invited to provide information about any dietary restrictions you may have.
We encourage you to be as detailed as possible to ensure that our chef has enough information to meet your needs. If you have any questions about our ability to meet your dietary needs, please contact us at residencedining@capilanou.ca.
