Pick your specialization at CapU.
The new Bachelor of Science degree at CapU is the first STEM degree offered by the University. Applications are open now, with the program launching this fall.
After completing the first two years of the B.Sc., you will pursue one of three specialties while taking advantage of the benefits CapU provides, including smaller classes, more lab time and taking part in field work with community partners.
Our three specializations can help you find your fit in STEM.
Biomedical Sciences
In this concentration, you’ll take courses in genetics, physiology, cell biology, microbiology, immunology and biochemistry.
“The biomedical concentration is great for students who want to take a scientific approach to understanding and improving human health,” said CapU instructor Urmila Jangra, who coordinates chemistry and physics at the University.
Computational Sciences
Start building your data science capabilities, with classes in database technologies, data processing, mathematics modelling, graph theory and optimization, machine learning and experiment design.
“If you’re interested in solving complex problems using modern approaches – including computer programming, mathematics and statistics – the computational stream is for you,” she said.
Environmental Sciences
In this stream, you’ll grow your skills in conservation biology, ecosystem restoration, green and environmental chemistry, thermodynamics, physics and spectroscopy.
“Students who are passionate about tackling environmental issues such as climate change and pollution from a scientific perspective are a great fit for the environmental sciences stream,” Jangra said.
