Capilano University announces new certificate programs at its Squamish campus for Fall 2025

The Outdoor Filmmaking certificate program is designed to bring local and destination students to CapU Squamish who want to take advantage of the opportunities in the region that have spawned a globally recognized outdoor adventure film industry.

SQUAMISH B.C. March 20, 2025—Capilano University (CapU) is pleased to announce four new certificate programs launching in Fall 2025 at its Squamish campus, which opened in September. These programs complement the existing programming that has been curated to meet the needs of students and businesses in the Sea-to-Sky region and beyond.

The newly added programs for Fall 2025 are:
Communication for Professionals Certificate
Computing Systems Certificate
Outdoor Filmmaking Certificate
Sustainable Economics Certificate

The four new certificates are in addition to programming already on offer for Fall 2025 at CapU Squamish, including:
Adult Basic Education
• Arts – Associate Degree
• Business Administration – Bachelor, Certificate and Diploma
• Early Childhood Care and Education – Bachelor and Diploma
• Education Assistant – Certificate
• Environment and Society – Bachelor
• Interdisciplinary Studies – Bachelor
• Kinesiology – Diploma
• Tourism Management Co-operative Education – Diploma

“Offering certificate programs provides students with valuable workforce recognition and flexible educational options, whether pursued independently or as part of their broader academic journey,” explains Brian Storey, associate vice-president, CapU Squamish. “Outdoor Filmmaking is designed to bring local and destination students to CapU Squamish who want to take advantage of the opportunities in the region that have spawned a globally recognized outdoor adventure film industry based in Squamish and Whistler. This credential when combined with our degrees in business or environment and society offers unique skills to students relevant to environmental advocacy, outdoor and adventure filmmaking, and tourism.”

Applications for all 2025 CapU Squamish programs and courses are open.

Students enrolled in CapU Squamish will have the option to live on campus. With more than 200 single-bed rooms available in the university’s three student housing buildings, CapU anticipates being able to accommodate all students who apply for on-campus housing in Squamish for the Fall 2025 term.

For more information, prospective students are invited to join a CapU Squamish online info session via Zoom on April 15 at 7 p.m. The session will provide additional information about programs and courses, housing and amenities, and financial aid options.
