Ex-Officio Member - Board of Governors, President and Vice-Chancellor
Paul Dangerfield has been appointed Capilano University's seventh president and third vice-chancellor and will assumes his duties effective October 1, 2016.
Formerly, Dangerfield was the executive director and Vancouver campus dean of the New York Institute of Technology and was previously dean of Capilano University's faculty of business and professional studies from 2006 to 2009. Prior to his role with the New York Institute of Technology, he was the vice-president of education, research and international with British Columbia Institute of Technology from 2009 to 2014. From 1985, Dangerfield spent 20 years with the Canadian Forces in a variety of increasingly senior roles that included chief of staff, commanding officer and VP human resources.
Dangerfield holds an MBA specializing in leadership from Royal Roads University and a B.Sc. in Chemistry from Carleton University. He is also a doctoral candidate of Fielding Graduate University.
Dangerfield has served on a wide variety of boards including West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce; BC Council on Admissions and Transfer and the BC Technology Education Careers Council.
He and his wife, Catherine, have two adult daughters. Together they take full advantage of living on the West Coast and all the opportunities it offers for skiing, hiking, biking and kayaking.
