Bio

Pouyan Mahboubi (PhD, University of Northern British Columbia, 2015) joined Capilano University as the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 2019. He was formerly the Dean of Instruction at Coast Mountain College, preceded by nearly two decades of teaching university sciences.

Internationally, Mahboubi has been invited as a lecturer and project lead on a number of post-secondary and government initiatives in the Americas.

Completing his PhD in 2015 at the University of Northern BC, Mahboubi's research focus is that of environmental management in the context of the social-ecological system.

As an environmental biologist with advanced experience in G.I.S. operations and the impacts of human activities on social and environmental health, Pouyan approaches his role as Dean through a transdisciplinary and applied lens.
