Bio

Tania (Barron) Loken (MA, Royal Roads University, 2009) has been an active part of British Columbia's tourism industry since 1995.

She began her career in Whistler and later contributed to industry training initiatives through her work with go2HR.

Since joining Capilano University nearly seven years ago, Tania now serves as an Educational Developer specializing in Work-Integrated Learning within the Centre for Teaching Excellence.

She has also acted as Convenor for the Diploma in Tourism Management International, managing the needs of international students, the program and its practicum component.

As a Certified Work-Integrated Learning Practitioner, Tania is dedicated to bridging academic learning with real-world industry experiences, supporting students in building successful careers in the tourism sector.

I am passionate about tourism, culture and mentoring. As a program convenor, I strive to provide support to all students in the program. As an instructor in the career preparation and practicum, I use my knowledge of the industry and as a career advisor to provide students with as much of an advantage in today's workplace as possible.
