Here's a look at the buildings and room configurations we offer in CapU Residence.
Our buildings
CapU Residence located at 2420 Dollarton Highway and provides students with the option of living in one of three buildings.
Named for the local mountains, Grouse Hall, Cypress Hall and Seymour Hall include housing and amenities for approximately 290 students in shared and single accommodation, depending on demand.
The largest of our three buildings, Grouse Hall, includes two wings and is home to our Student Housing Services front desk and offices.
Grouse Hall also houses our single gender and quiet/study-intensive communities. Each of Grouse Hall's three floors includes common spaces for studying and social activities, as well as access to laundry (on the first and second floor), common washrooms and showers.
Cypress Hall and Seymour Hall are the perfect mirror image of one another with each housing about 80 students.
Each of Cypress and Seymour's three floors includes common spaces for studying and social activities as well as access to laundry (on the first and second floor), common washrooms and showers.
Our rooms
CapU Residence provides a number of room options including double occupancy, single occupancy and apartment style (limited availability).
Each room (excluding apartment style) include the following:
- 2 twin size beds with drawer storage
- 2 twin size mattresses
- 2 desks with built-in shelving & lockable drawer
- 2 desk chairs
- 2 closets
Most of the rooms in CapU Residence are double occupancy. In these rooms, students share with another student whom they have selected using our roommate matching portal.
Students living in double rooms will be assigned to a specific side of the room where the closet, bed and desk are for their use exclusively.
Students living in double rooms will be asked to complete Roommate Agreements at the start of the year with the assistance of their Residence Advisor.
We strongly recommend that all students living in double rooms contact their roommate before arrival to arrange any shared items (as needed).
Priority for single occupancy rooms is given to students with an identified need for special accommodation. Remaining single rooms are prioritized for students outside of their first year of study at CapU.
Single rooms are provided in one of two configurations:
- Two beds, two desks (the same layout as the double room)
- One bed, two desks (the same layout as the double room with second bed removed)
Regardless of the room configuration, students in single rooms will not share with a roommate and will be allowed to use both sides of their room.
Note: single room students living in a double room configuration may use the second bed for guests a maximum of 7 nights per semester (as per the guest policy).
