October 20—Capilano University and CFA bargaining update
Capilano University and Capilano Faculty Association (CFA) met on Thursday, October 19.
During this meeting, the parties continued discussions on the following topics, among others:
- Converting Paid Education Leave (PEL) from a percentage of budget committed to regular salaries to sections on a cost-neutral basis
- Scale placement of non-regular employees – timing of placement and placement cap
- Increasing Private Music Instructors (PMI) hourly rate
- Improving Benefits and the Health Care Spending Account
- Establishing a one-time Wellness Spending Account (WSA)
- Transitioning the academic year
- Introducing a Letter of Understanding which incorporates language for enhancing EDI on search committees
Next steps
The next scheduled bargaining dates with the CFA are October 25 and November 15. As the bargaining process continues we’ll provide updates as needed.
