October 3—Capilano University and CFA bargaining update
Capilano University and Capilano Faculty Association (CFA) met on Friday, September 29.
During this meeting, the parties acknowledged tentative agreement to proposals on the following topics, among others:
- Enhancing the eligibility and compensation for travelling to multiple locations (letter of agreement re: multi-location)
- Establishing a Joint Committee to address vacation accrual issues
- Adding Indigenous identity and lived experience as a basis for non-regular employees placement on scale at time of hiring
The parties discussed and will continue to discuss the following topics, among others:
- Increasing Private Music Instructors (PMI) hourly rate
- Improving benefits and the health care spending account
- Establishing a one-time Wellness Spending Account (WSA)
- Incorporating language concerning EDI (equity, diversity and inclusion) on search committees
- Transitioning the academic year
- Scale placement cap on non-regular employees
