Bio
Heather Jalbout has over twenty years of experience in advertising and design encompassing a diverse range of mediums. Her particular area of expertise lies in branding and interactive. Her background in both print and digital environments allows her to provide dynamic, usable solutions that extend across both mediums.
Jalbout has been the design led on numerous projects in a range of categories, from complete rebranding applications, including identity, brand standards and print materials, brochures, corporate websites, campaign-based banners and microsites, electronic and traditional direct mail.
Jalbout's work has been featured in Communication Arts and Applied Arts, and her websites have also been selected as Communications Arts "Site of the Week."
The real-world preparation that industry-experienced instructors provide in Capilano University's IDEA program is essential. I hope to impart some of the knowledge I've gleaned during my twenty plus years in design, along with helping to establish a solid foundation of layout and typography so that students can then explore and push boundaries.
With designers now expected to execute brand applications and campaigns across a range of mediums, I hope to demonstrate to students how these design fundamentals are applicable no matter the execution. Establishing visual language and weaving in storytelling will result in work that engages their audience, works well for clients and impresses creative directors.
Above all else, I find I learn just as much from our IDEA students and am constantly inspired by their innovation and ideas!
