Bio
Shawn Henry (MA, Dalhousie University) is an actor, singer, writer and director born and raised in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
His foray into the world of the performing arts began at the age of 12 with the song and dance troupe Characters Incorporated. Shawn holds a Bachelor of Music and Masters in Musicology from Dalhousie University, and was an actor and musical director in Toronto for 15 years before returning home to Fredericton a few years ago.
In Fredericton, he started his own production company called Blind Faith Productions and since then has directed a number of musicals including: Next To Normal, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Evita.
He has also just completed his first short film entitled Il Sole in which he was the recipient of three prizes including The NB Joy Film Award, the Short Film Venture Awardas well as The Award of Excellence from Canada Shorts Film Festival. Shawn is new to Vancouver and is thrilled to be working at Capilano University as a musical theatre instructor.
I have extensive experience in teaching music theory, sight reading, voice, as well as a focus on acting through song representation, vocal pedagogy and application of music within a theatrical performance.
