CapU message on the Scarborough Charter
Capilano University is aware of the Scarborough Charter and we welcome the Capilano Students’ Union’s (CSU) active interest in this movement. Agreements like the Scarborough Charter play an important role in building greater equity for underrepresented groups within Canadian higher education.
The Charter is one of many lenses that we are using to reflect on our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion commitments at Capilano University. As part of that work, we are taking a thoughtful and deliberate approach to consider how the Scarborough Charter aligns with our values and how it could potentially be adopted and implemented meaningfully within our university community. Already, we are consulting with members of our community, including the CSU, about the Charter, and reviewing this agreement as part of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion audit currently underway at CapU.
We look forward to the continuing discussion.
Kartik Bharadwa,
VP People, Culture and Diversity
Capilano University
