A survey of fundamental topics in discrete mathematics including: mathematical proofs using direct arguments, indirect arguments, and induction; the algebra of sets; combinatorics; functions and relations; and graph theory. This course stresses the special role of discrete mathematics in Computing Science.
Prerequisites: MATH 116 with a minimum C- grade; or MATH 105 with a minimum B grade; or Principles of Math 12 or Pre-calculus 12 with a minimum B grade; or BMTH 054 with a minimum A grade; or Math Placement Test (MPT)
Notes:
- MATH 124 is an approved Quantitative/Analytical course for baccalaureate degrees. MATH 124 is an approved Science course.
- MATH 124 to be offered in the fall or spring term when sufficient student demand is evident.
