THTR 130 - Acting: Foundations to Performance

This is a workshop course designed to introduce students with little to no acting experience to key elements of the art of acting for the stage and screen. Students will explore the craft through a variety of practical exercises, including voice and movement exercises and script work. Students will apply approaches taught in class through a variety of techniques, including written assignments, scene work, and in-class performances. This course is open to all CapU students.

Notes:

  • THTR 130 is an approved Culture and Creative Expression course for Cap Core requirements. THTR 130 is equivalent to ACTR 100. Duplicate credit will not be granted for this course and ACTR 100.

THTR 131 - Improvisation: Foundations to Performance

This is an introductory workshop course in which students will explore techniques and skills of improvisation. Students will investigate foundational principles of improvisation, including spontaneity and narrative structure, through theatre games, exercises and performances. This course is open to all CapU students.

  • THTR 131 is an approved Culture and Creative Expression course for Cap Core requirements. THTR 131 is equivalent to ACTR 101. Duplicate credit will not be granted for this course and ACTR 101.

THTR 152 - Costume Production I

Students will work in assigned positions in all areas of costume production and management for theatre department productions. Working in a mentored situation, students will be directly involved in producing the costumes for one or more theatre department mainstage productions. Instruction will take the form of practical demonstrations, and supervised work on assigned projects.

THTR 160 - Technical Theatre Fundamentals

THTR 266 - Costume Production III

Following THTR 153, students have opportunities to work in more and different positions in the costuming for the Theatre Department main stage shows, and therefore expand their knowledge base in the production of large scale live theatrical productions.

Prerequisites: THTR 153

THTR 267 - Costume Production IV

Following THTR 266, students have opportunities to work in more and different positions in the costuming of the Theatre Department main stage shows, and therefore expand their knowledge base in the production of large scale live theatrical productions.
