This course provides an introduction to Canadian literature from early European contact to the twenty-first century by examining a variety of storytelling genres that address prevalent themes and debates surrounding the complex, contested notion of "the nation". Students will consider how the context of ongoing settler-colonialism informs Canada's diverse literary cultures and understandings of "the nation".
Prerequisites: 6 credits of 100-level ENGL
