This course covers a colourful and creative period in European history from the 3rd century to the 15th century. Topics include the late Roman Empire and the rise of Christianity, monasticism and the church, feudal society and politics, the rise of towns, the crusades, the Black Death, and the art, culture and society of Renaissance Italy.
