This course tells the story of Skwxw7meshulh Uxwumxw (The Squamish People) from a Skwxw7mesh perspective. The story is represented in the oral tradition, passed down from past generations of speakers. This course focuses on expressions of collective identity, which can be seen as the sharing of a common territory, language, owned and shared resource sites and rights, kinship (both blood and marriage relations) and various complex cultural and political relationships.
