This course is a certification level course for industry as designated by Avalanche Canada - Avalanche Skills Training course Level 1. In this course students learn how to recognize avalanche terrain, understand the avalanche forecast, plan trips, and perform a companion rescue. Upon successful completion students will receive Avalanche Canada certification Level 1.

REC 148 as a pre- or corequisite
Course Notes
This course consists of one pre-trip planning session plus two one-day field experiences.
