This course focuses on each student's ability to make safe leadership decisions, perform surf landings and launches, and provide a high level of client care and instruction. Students may achieve industry certification(s) in sea kayaking (Paddle Canada Skills Level 2 and/or Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of BC Assistant Overnight Guide certifications), if industry certification requirements are met.

Course Notes
To achieve Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC) certification in Overnight Field Leader, students must have earned Field Leader Paddling in WLP 137. To achieve Paddle Canada Level 2 Skills in WLP 138, students must have earned Paddle Canada Level 1 Skills previously. Proof of certification is required.
This course consists of one pre-trip planning session plus a nine day overnight field trip.
