This course is a continuation of CMNS 209 History of Media 1, addressing the historical contexts and development of key technical components of digital media - computing, network telecommunication, app-based social media and machine learning/artificial intelligence. Its goal is to enhance students' digital literacy by providing a depth of understanding of the social, political, economic and cultural contexts and drivers out of which digital media emerge and that shape their development and impacts.
