FREN 315 Studies in French through Cinema

This course examines the history and development of French cinema from the first films of Lumière brothers in 1895 to contemporary French filmmakers. Using a chronological and thematic framework, the course will analyze films from the major directors and movements of French filmaking.

Prerequisites

45 credits of 100-level or higher coursework

Course Notes

Advance level in French, both written and oral, as the course will be entirely taught in French. FREN 270 and 271 recommended.
