This course in Literary Publishing will be the first of a two-term suite of classes focusing on the creation and production of a print and online publication, from concept to design to publication to launch. This studio-style class will provide opportunities for students to fill multiple roles in literary publishing—in publicity, acquisitions, editorial and event planning. Assignments will reflect the multiple roles on a production team, including marketing, design, writing and editing. Following completion of ENGL 496, students are expected to take ENGL 497 Literary Publishing II in the subsequent semester.
Prerequisites
45 credits of 100-level or higher coursework including ENGL 190 or ENGL 191 and one of ENGL 290, 291, 293, 296 or 297
Course Notes
ENGL 496 is an approved Culture and Creative Expression course for Cap Core requirements. ENGL 496 is an approved Experiential course for Cap Core requirements.
ENGL 496 along with ENGL 497 is equivalent to ENGL 396. Duplicate credit will not be granted for this course and ENGL 396.
